In September 2014, Jabree assessed an 8 km section of Energex’s 22 km high voltage transmission corridor from Loganlea to Jimboomba substation. This section of the corridor is identified within our traditional area, located in the vicinity of Logan Village.
A total of 56 Indigenous artefacts and 234 non-Indigenous artefacts were recovered from two of four excavations undertaken in the project area.

Preliminary analysis of the Aboriginal cultural material recovered from one site in particular, suggests the area was once a knapping site, or stone working site, by our ancestors.
These photos show silcrete Aboriginal artefacts recovered from the site. Silcrete is a rock type that was widely used by Aboriginalpeople for stone tool manufacturing and trade.
The change in artefact colour shown between the two photos, from red artefacts found in the top excavation layer to yellow artefacts found in deeper layers suggest a bush fire or burn at this site reacted with the silcrete and altered its colour.
