Acknowledgement and Welcome to Country
We are open to requests to provide a Welcome to Country at your next meeting or event if the event has an identified connection with Indigenous content that helps event participants build further meaning and understanding.
We also support an Acknowledgement of Country that recognises both the Traditional Owner community, the Yugambeh people, as well as the broader Indigenous community of Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, South Sea Islander people who experienced discrimination during the development of Queensland’s history.
An Acknowledgement of Country can be delivered by an indigenous staff member, who can tell the gathering about their story and about how they see their work connecting with Indigenous content. Alternatively, an Acknowledgement can be delivered by a senior representative of the organisation who can also describe how the organisation’s work connects with Indigenous content.
