In March 2015, Jabree carried out a cultural heritage assessment for the Gold Coast City Council’s upgrade of the Colman Road boat ramp in Coomera. The assessment identified surface artefacts and a significant Aboriginal shell midden site.
While there has been some historical disturbance to the site from the boat ramp’s initial construction and from associated traffic, the site has been assessed as having high Aboriginal cultural heritage sensitivity, as well as a high potential for rare and significant archaeological deposits.

The site also holds social and cultural value to Aboriginal people as it holds significant evidence of past occupation and use of the area. The project represented an opportunity for Jabree Ltd to work with Gold Coast City Council through a series of recommendations to protect this site from ongoing damage.
