In September 2017, the Native Title Tribunal registered the native title claim of the Five Rivers People. The vast majority of this claim relates to country west of the Gold Coast Native Title Group Claim.
Under the provisions of the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003, the Gold Coast Native Title Group continues to be the Aboriginal Party for freehold property within the Gold Coast Region and Jabree Ltd continues to act as the registered Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Body for the Gold Coast Native Title Group.
To ensure compliance with the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003, all prospective developers are required to consult with Jabree Ltd during the planning of any development project on freehold land.
