Business traineeship success for local Gold Coast woman

Jabree have helped to secure a Business Administration traineeship for Shellie, a local Gold Coast woman who has traditional ties to the Kamilaroi people of Coonabarabran.

Shellie heard about Jabree through Kalwun Health Worker Sonya Treveton at Miami and contacted us about upcoming employment and training opportunities.

After a conversation about the type of opportunities Shellie was interested in, Jabree helped to arrange her an interview with Access Community Services Ltd for their Certificate 1 course in Business Administration (read more here).

Shellie was successful at the interview and started a paid 18-week traineeship in late October with her host employer, Gold Coast City Council.

Shellie said she is loving her new position with Gold Coast City Council where every day brings new, busy and interesting work.

“This traineeship has been a really great opportunity for me. It’s also lifted a big weight from my shoulders because I am working towards longer term employment with Council and I really love the work I am doing!”

“I would absolutely encourage others, especially the younger members of the community, to talk to Jabree about what opportunities are out there.”

If you (or someone you know) are interested opportunities like this one, or for more information about our employment and training program, please contact the Jabree team here.
