On Tuesday, the Jabree team organised its second stone tool and ochre workshop, presented with Gold Coast local and owner of Brave Ant, Rick Roser.
Held at the Gold Coast Historical Society in Surfers Paradise, the workshop covered traditional skills and practices including ochre painting and stone tool manufacture, fire making and Piccabeen basket making.
More than 20 people participated in the workshop with representation from the Gold Coast Traditional Owner community, the Department of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, the Department of Transport and Main Roads, the City of Gold Coast, and local Indigenous artists.
Jabree continues to receive positive feedback about these workshops and looks forward to hosting more events for community and for other interested stakeholders in 2017.
If you’d be interested in a workshop like this for your organisation or group, please contact Jabree for more information.
